Support Shepherd’s Table and give the gift of hope

“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” - Saint Francis of Assisi

We thank you for joining us in expanding our programs and scope, furthering our mission to improve quality of life, create a pathway towards self-sufficiency, and inspire hope for the most vulnerable experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, and poverty.

Together, we are supporting Sean, who is experiencing unemployment, and finds comfort in how Shepherd’s Table is always here to help. “I’m going through a lot but at least I know food is something that I don’t have to worry about because of this place.”

Or Deborah, who lost her job and home, and appreciates Shepherd’s Table because there are meals for the homeless. “And you don’t even have to be homeless to receive help here,” she said.

With your support, Shepherd’s Table has been gratefully serving meals and providing services in our Resource Center safely every day. Whether we are serving outdoors, in a tent, or in the dining room, we are grateful to be able to continue to serve even more people.

We were saddened to see the increasing rates of food insecurity around us, just as you were, and couldn’t stand by while people were going hungry in our community. Last summer, we piloted a new program, Beyond the Table, and brought it back permanently.

Beyond the Table is serving over 200 dinners every day – three times a week in Aspen Hill and twice a week in Riverdale. That’s at least 1,000 additional meals every week, with plans for expansion underway. Partnering with schools, we are serving families and children experiencing food insecurity. This is our first time serving meals outside of our facility, and also our first venture into neighboring Prince George’s County.

We are also expanding our Urban Garden and will train clients in gardening skills once it is safe to do so. A Weekend Day Program will be added mid-year, where we will provide a safe, productive space for clients to be on the weekends. We are already working on a plan to advocate for policies affecting those we serve at the County level, and later at the State and Federal levels.

Your support, as a donor, volunteer, and advocate, makes all the difference for those we are serving, and will continue to serve. Working together, we can do the impossible and make sure no one in our community spends a day hungry and hopeless.
